AxsysCNC Ltd, based in Christchurch, New Zealand, was started by Mike Neville.
Mike is in charge of all the technical aspects and takes care of sales while his wife, Sheryl, takes care of administration and accounts.
Mike has had a background in CNC programming and machining since completing a machining apprenticeship in 1987 in one of New Zealand's largest CNC workshops. After several years with the company, he worked as a cutting tool technical representative for Sandvik Coromant, as a programmer for several other manufacturing companies, as a technical support engineer for another CAM software product, and also returned as a programming manager for the company he did his apprenticeship with. Mike has programmed anything from vintage aircraft components, vacuum, investment casting, and injection dies through to surgical equipment and custom implants and complex product prototypes.
Conversant with most common CNC controls and several CAD/CAM/NC verification products, Mike has a reputation in New Zealand of being a very experienced programmer, specialising in most technical aspects of this field. He counts many companies up and down the country among his customers who come to him for technical support when and where required.
It was through his previous experience and frustration with various CAM software products, and companies supplying them, that he began looking for a product that was both powerful enough to support the complex multi-axis and multi-tasking machine tools coming into the market, and yet its ease of use made it very productive in creating NC programmes. Through discussions with his colleagues worldwide, he decided that Missler Software's TopSolid software provided all those requirements, and more.
AxsysCNC's main customers consist of a varied range of manufacturing companies throughout New Zealand, from small workshops consisting of only four or five employees, through to large companies with over two hundred employees.
Mike Neville declared: “AxsysCNC is proud to have been appointed New Zealand reseller of Missler TopSolid, and looks forward to providing the manufacturing industry in New Zealand with the benefits that this product brings.”
Patrick Martin, Business Unit Manager ASIA explains “I was looking for a Metal Distributor in New-Zealand and finally had the pleasure to meet Mike as it is always difficult to find some good people. His technical knowledge & sales background enabled him to quickly familiarize himself with TopSolid 7 by obtaining two first orders, one in 3-axis milling and the second in mill-turning.
This second order is a key reference as it will also be a pilot reference from 2.5D to mill-turning modules, which will be shown to all future NZ prospects.
Mike did not hesitate to bring one of his customer to Chicago for training purposes and complete his own training with MS Inc. staff.
It is important to score the first goals as for soccer to gain confidence and I am sure that we will do some good work with Mike in that region, “Down-Under”.”
